About E-Structors

A picture of the E-Structors building

Founded in 2003 as a pioneer in the electronics recycling industry, E-Structors, Inc. has safely and securely destroyed electronics, computers, and documents for federal, state and local government agencies. This nationwide electronics recycling company has provided their services to corporations, health care systems, major electronics retailers, and other businesses and organizations. Located in Elkridge, Maryland, their 187,000 square-foot state of the art facility is able to deconstruct electronics into simple components that can then be 100% recycled. E-Structors, Inc. was the first electronics recycler in the mid-Atlantic to have received both the ISO: 14001:2004 and R2 (Responsible Recycling) certifications.

E-Structors mission is to eliminate the two major threats concerning the disposal of computers, electronics, and documents:

According to a 2007 report by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

  • Of the 2.25 million tons of TVs, cell phones and computer products ready for end-of-life (EOL) management, 18% (414,000 tons) were collected for recycling and 82% (1.84 million tons) were disposed of, primarily in landfills.

The National Safety Council Reports:

  • 70% of the heavy metals (e.g. lead, mercury and cadmium) contaminating our nation’s landfills come from discarded electronics

E-Structors was established to create a responsible resource for reducing the environmental burden and security risks normally associated with e-cycling and document destruction. Owners Julie and Michael Keough have parlayed more than 40 years of combined experience in recycling and solid waste management. Their industry expertise keeps E-Structors clients safe, secure, and environmentally compliant.

E-Structors destruction and recycling solutions includes:

  • The secure collection and transport of materials from the clients place of operation to E-Structors 187,000 square-foot processing facility.
  • An onsite state-of-the-art destruction system that mechanically shreds clients’ electronic material into pieces no larger than 1.5”, rendering all critical or sensitive data irretrievable
  • An onsite paper destruction system that pulverizes large quantities of clients’ documents into pieces smaller than .5”, making it impossible to retrieve the information.
  • A Certificate of Destruction or a Certificate of Recycle upon the completion of requested services.
